Located in Plano, IL, resides the Farnsworth House by Mies van der Rohe. Our studio was fortunate to visit and tour the famous architectural landmark. Our studio was assigned to create an imaginary "addition to a masterpiece" to the legendary Farnsworth House. The program, design, proximity, and style were all left to us to create. I wanted my addition to be an almost identical replica of the Farnsworth House, but decided to block most of the interior from receiving light, apart from the living residence of my addition. It was meant to be a collision of what is visible and blocked. My addition was a combination of privacy and openness, but without the vulnerability that the Farnsworth House was highly criticized for. The model and drawings for this project are all handcrafted and drawn. This was my favorite hand crafted project that I completed before moving into the digital tools of design and modeling.
