Located in Alburquerque, NM, this retail center was a group project that focused on the main seating and restaurant spacing. The main seating was to be neutral and modern with accents of black being used frequently to accent the warmth from the desert tones and landscape. We were also assigned to come up with a store of our choice to which I wanted to create a space for photography and social interaction, to encourage community, while being playful with the themes and colors from Alburquerque. Social media has become and outlet for photography and pop-up stores are a new trend that most malls and shopping centers offer. I drew inspiration from Alburquerque’s landscapes and cultural images to create several themes for the studio, including: desert, chromatic, geometric, and a small section that will sell film and other photography accessories. The bold color choices will be accented nicely with muted neutrals, alluding to the desert.
